Larry Laurier Voz:
May 14, 1931 - March 19, 2013
It is with broken hearts that the family of Larry Laurier Voz of Lake Lenore, SK, announces his death on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Humboldt District Hospital, Humboldt, SK, following a courageous 20-month battle with cancer. He was 81 years of age. Larry was born on May 14, 1931, to Frank and Maryanne (nee Buzit) Voz at St. Brieux, SK. He grew up on the family farm there and attended Tilly Rural School and St. Brieux R.C. School where he completed Grade 9. Following his education, Larry helped on the family farm. At the age of 18, he began working at various places, including Saskatoon, Uranium City, Yellowknife, and in Ontario. In 1961, Larry met the love of his life, Kathy Krystal, in Lucky Lake, SK, and they were married on November 18, 1961, in Gronlid, SK. Following their marriage they lived in Regina, Naicam, Pathlow, St. Brieux and, in 1965, they settled at Lake Lenore, where they continued to reside. Larry and Kathy were blessed with three children: Dianne in 1962, Faye in 1963, and Joseph in 1966. In 1973, Larry purchased two gravel trucks and was employed by the Dept. of Highways every summer for 12 years. The urge to start a business of his own was very strong, so he purchased a loader and a screener and began hauling gravel. A few years later, Larry bought two tractor units and single trailers with which he transported canola, cereal grains and fertilizer and, a year later, expanded to two train units. He and his son Joe worked together in the family business, L & J Voz Trucking. In his leisure time, Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to auction and garage sales, and socializing. He was a true "people person" with a good sense of humor and loved telling jokes. Spending time with family and friends was always a highlight for him. In 1988, Larry semi-retired, and fully retired three years ago. He and Kathy both loved traveling and spent the winters in Mazatlan until 2011, the year he was diagnosed with cancer. "Gone from our sight, but never our memories. Gone from our touch, but never our hearts." Larry will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 51 years, Katherine (nee Krystal) Voz of Lake Lenore; three children, 15 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren: Dianne Haider and family, Devan Haider and son Zeke Haider, Desiree (Aaron) Cascagnette and children Austin and Dakota, Deidra Haider, and Derek Haider, all of Weyburn, SK; Faye Dosch (Corey) of Humboldt, SK, and family, Jolene Dosch (Shane) of Montreal, PQ, Wyatt (Nicola) Dosch and daughter Izabel of Medicine Hat, AB, Doyle Dosch (Samantha) of Humboldt, and Rebecca Dosch (Adam) and son Acey of Humboldt; and Joseph (Rochelle) Voz and family, Colby Voz (Megan), Josie Voz (Rylan), and Paige, Payton, Quinn, Shelby, and Carson Voz, all of Lake Lenore; two brothers: Marcel (Marg) Voz of Stoney Creek, ON, and Art Voz of Sault Ste.
