HARPAUER: Larry

The death of Mr. Larry Harpauer, 64 years of Humboldt and formerly of the Leroy district, occurred on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Humboldt District Hospital, surrounded by his family. Larry was born on April 11, 1949 in Humboldt to John and Elizabeth (nee Thole) Harpauer. He grew up on the family farm in the Leroy and St. Patrick's Church area, attending the rural school Manresa and Loyola School in Sinnett. In his youth, Larry was a 4-H club member and enjoyed many sports, such as hockey, baseball, football and curling. Larry loved the farm and a career in farming was the natural choice for him, operating a mixed farming operation for many years. He had an entrepreneurial spirit, planting different crops, starting other small businesses; anything that was new and unique, he wanted to give it a try. He was a social person, enjoying outings to the "Steak Pit" in Leroy and Jansen, where he could both visit with friends and have an excellent meal. Larry had a special relationship with his mother, Elizabeth and he phoned her daily, just to chat and see how she was doing. He was a gentle man by nature and will be missed by his family and many friends. Larry will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Elizabeth Harpauer of Humboldt; his three daughters and three grandchildren: Crystal (Rusty) Buckoski and son, James of Saskatoon; Shannon Harpauer (Carter Matechuk) and children, Makenna and soon-to-be-born grandson of Regina; and Lindsay Harpauer of Regina; three sisters, three nephews and three nieces: Dianne (Bruno) Kussner of Saskatoon and sons, Trevor and Corey; Irene (Lloyd) Driedger of Saskatoon and son, Kelly; Joanne (Garth) Harpauer Dignean of Saskatoon and daughters, Chelsea and Sloane; and niece Lynda Kovlaske (Rosemarie's daughter). Larry was predeceased by his father, John Harpauer (1995), and two sisters, Rosemarie Sawicki (1964) and Janet Harpauer (1957, in infancy). The Funeral Mass for Larry was held on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Leroy. Memorial donations in Larry's memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan or St. Patrick's Cemetery Fund. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home, Humbold.
