KRAMER: Kenneth Frank

January 1, 1929 - May 27, 2014

The death of Mr. Kenneth Frank Kramer of Bruno, SK, occurred at St. Paul's Hospital, Saskatoon, SK, on Tuesday, May 27, 2014. He was 85 years of age. Ken was born on January 1, 1929, to Peter and Margaret (nee Hazelwanter) Kramer in Cudworth. He went to school at the Bruno Brick School and also to the school known as the 2 by 4. Ken helped his parents on the farm and he also worked in a bush camp at Auden, ON during the winter months of 1947 and 1948 to help provide for the family. In 1954, he married Kathrine Helgert of Pilger and they were blessed with three children: Aaron, Alois and Denise whom all live in the Bruno area. Ken and Kathrine made their home on the Peter Kramer farm, just one half mile east of Bruno, and they farmed in partnership with Ken's brother Lynn, until Lynn's passing. They kept up with the grain farming and shipping of milk until about 1958, when they phased out the milking and went into a small herd of beef cattle. Ken started working at Colonsay Mine in 1974 and worked there for 18 years until he retired in 1992. In 2006, he retired from farming, which was his passion; and he also enjoyed working in the yard. Ken loved going on fishing and camping trips, and family gatherings were a highlight. Trips to the casino, and playing cards, which he did every evening with Kathrine, were his favorite pastimes. He enjoyed spending time with Leo Urban at Bruno Motors and also went regularly for coffee at Bruno Café. Ken was an honest, decent and honorable man who would have given the shirt off his back for anyone. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Ken will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Kathrine (nee Helgert) Kramer of 59 years; two sons and one daughter: Aaron (Paula) Kramer of Bruno and their family, Brenda (Troy) Behiel and children Madison, Tyler, Tori-lynn and Alexander of Humboldt, Lisa Kramer (special friend, Sean Lehman) of Saskatoon; Alois (Debora) Kramer of Bruno and their family, Erica Kramer (fiancé Michael Brown) and children Hailey and Declan of Bruno, Christopher (Kathryn) Kramer and daughter Paisley of Bruno, Nicole Kramer of Saskatoon; Denise (Doug) Krentz of Bruno and family, Kimberly (Derrick) Ottenbreit and children Courtney and Hannah of Regina, Kendal (Steven) Bodnarchuk and children Cassidy and Emily of Bruno; one sister, Evelyn Poncelet of Humboldt; in-law's, John Nykyforchyn of Kamloops, Alois (Marge) Helgert of Bruno and Leon Helgert (special friend Crystal) of Humboldt. He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Margaret (nee Hazelwanter) Kramer; one brother, Lynn (Delphine) Kramer; one sister, Bernice Nykyforchyn; one brother-in-law, John Poncelet; and father and mother-in-law Alois and Emmarentia (nee Hutmacher) Helgert.
