BOWMAN: Kathleen

Kathleen “Kae” (nee Walker) Bowman passed away at her residence, St. Mary’s Villa, Humboldt, SK on Monday, March 20, 2017. She was 97 years of age. Kae was born in the county of Leicestershire, England on December 12, 1919 and came to Canada with her parents, Joseph and Edith (nee Righton) Walker and her twin sister May, in April of 1927 to farm in Saskatchewan, but unfortunately her father drowned three weeks later. After a year in the country, Edith Walker and the twins moved to Saskatoon where Kae received all her education graduating from the University of Saskatchewan in April 1941, with a BA degree, she took the certificate course in education the following year. She taught school in Saskatchewan from 1942 – 1950, the last three years in Humboldt, then changed to public accounting until her marriage. Kae was married to Leslie Bowman in St. Andrew’s Church on April 4, 1964. They adopted a son, John in 1966. Kae was an active member of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church as treasurer, and also held various offices in the Anglican Church Women’s group, and was also on the Diocesan Board of the Anglican Church Women. She was a member of the Sunshine Rebekah Lodge No. 83 and a Past District Deputy President of the Rebekah Assembly of Saskatchewan. Kae was also a leader of the Girls’ Auxiliary of St. Andrews’s Church, a 4-H leader for six years and a member of the Humboldt Society for Aid to the Handicapped. Kae enjoyed bowling, sewing, puzzles and reading. Kae became a resident of St. Mary’s Villa in 2001. A Funeral Service was held at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Marie-Louise Ternier-Gommers.
