Johanna Niebrugge, sister, mother, grand mother, great grand mother, and great great grandmother of Humboldt, Saskatchewan left us to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 6, 2010 at the age of 96. She grew up on her parents' homestead near Carmel. She attended Highgate School until grade 6 and later began working on neighboring farms until she met her husband Anthony ( Tony) Niebrugge whom she married on September 29,1936. Together they farmed six miles west of Fulda and raised four children. Johanna was always a very hard worker. While on the farm she maintained a very large garden as well as doing any task that farm life presented: such as pitching hay, shingling roofs, shoveling grain, butchering, etc. No task was too difficult for her as she loved and valued farm life.Upon their retirement from farming in 1965, Tony and Johanna moved to Humboldt. There she worked at St. Elizabeth's Hospital and joined the CWL. Johanna and Tony spent many good years playing cards, socializing and traveling with friends until his death in1979. She maintained her house until she moved into a Condo in 1997 following a serious car accident .During all those years in Humboldt, she loved nothing better than to help in whatever way she could on the farm of her son or her daughter and spending time with her grand children. She also continued her card playing, quilting, and formed many new friendships including the "Johanna Group".Johanna is loved and will be missed by her children: Reynald (Anne) Niebrugge of Humboldt, Sk, and family Rhonda (Eric) Purvis, Cheryl (Kevin) Feader and family Kyle and Amber, Jacqueline ( Norman) Duret and family Kaylyn and Brittney; Thelma ( Albert) Wempe of Humboldt, Sk. and family Brain (Kendra) Wempe and family Shawn and Carissa, Wanda (Ronald) Sand and family Devin ( Melissa) and son Zaine, and Ryan; Lucille Niebrugge of Humboldt, Sk.; Melvin ( Donna) Niebrugge of Edmonton, Ab. and family Laurel Lee ( Elvis) Floreani and family Amanda and Erica, Nancy Bromley and daughters Sara and Gemma. She is also survived by four brothers: Adolf, Robert, Louis, Wilfred (Diane) Engele of Humboldt, Sk, and one sister Marie (John) Kramer of Calgary, Ab.The funeral arrangements were entrusted to Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Home. After a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, August 9,2010, she was laid to rest beside her husband Tony at the St. Augustine Roman Catholic Cemetery.
