STRUEBY: JOAN MARIE ~ March 11, 1943 - July 19, 2012
Joan Strueby was born in Humboldt on March 11th, 1943. Joan was born to Ed and Katherine Loehr and grew up with her sister Loretta and brother Norm in St. Gregor, Saskatchewan. Joan married Lorne Strueby in August of 1963 and had three sons Russ, Brad and Bruce. Joan graduated from Muenster high school and teachers college in Saskatoon. Joan worked as a teacher, co-owned the Manitou Hotel and finisher her working career with Pioneer Grain in Saskatoon. Joan was an active member of the Kinettes, the Catholic Women's League and was on the parish council for St. Anne's. Joan was an avid golfer and curler along with being an active baseball fan. Joan passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Craik Health Centre. Joan was predeceased by her husband Lorne Strueby, her parents Ed and Katherine Loehr, brother-in-law's Walter Strueby and Dan Wourms. Joan is survived by her three sons Russ, Brad (Marg Lukowich) and Bruce (Dorinda); four grandchildren Greta, Hannah, Casey and Wyatt; brother Norm (June) Loehr and sister Loretta (Ted) Obrigewitsch; brother-in-laws Arnold (Millie), Art (Mary), and Rick; sister-in-laws Edna Strueby, Eunice Wourms, Doreen (Ken) Mamer, Rose (Gilbert) Rabner, Lucille (Louie) Cecillon, Eileen (Norbert) Braun, Grace (Dave) Braun. For those so wishing donations to Canadian Liver Foundation or Watrous Community Health Foundation would be appreciated. A Vigil for the Deceased (Prayer Service) was held on Sunday July 22nd at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of the Christian Burial (Funeral Mass) was held on Monday, July 23rd. Services both took place in St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, Watrous, Saskatchewan and were officiated by Rev. Father Emmanuel Banahene. At the Prayer Service the Eulogy was given by Brad Strueby, the Scripture Reader was Lynnette Nishnik and Sylvia Dubeczy provided musical accompaniment by guitar for St. Ann's Choir. For the Funeral Mass, Register Attendants were Wyatt Strueby, Hanna Strueby and Casey Strueby. Ushers were Randi Spencer, Kendra Straub and Kelsey Straub. Readers were Greta Strueby and Tristyne Straub. Honourary Pallbearers were the Active Members of St. Ann's Catholic Women's League. Pallbearers were Scott Obrigewitsch, Wade Straub, Tanner Spencer, Terry Strueby, Mike Braun and Jeff Braun. Special Musical accompaniment was provided by The Korte Singers, led by Antoinette Prokosch with Cecilia Nakonechny, organist and Norman Duerr, soloist. Following the Funeral Mass a Memorial Luncheon was held in the lower level of the church catered to by St. Ann's C. W. L. The Graveside Service followed in Muenster Cemetery. Fotheringham - McDougall Funeral Service of Watrous and Nokomis in care of arrangements.
