Henry Bunnemeyer

The death of Mr. Henry Bunnemeyer of Humboldt occurred at Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon, SK, on Thursday, October 25, 2012. He was 76 years of age. Henry was born on February 24, 1936, to Frank and Mathilda (nee Roettger) Bunnemeyer at home on their farm in the Wilmont district. He grew up there and attended Pleasant Grove School. After completing Grade 8, Henry helped his father on the farm. After his parents retired to Humboldt, he took over the family farming operation. A natural-born mechanic who was very talented with his hands, Henry built some of his own machinery, including the invention and building of the first pneumatic air cultivator-seeder. As well, there was nothing he couldn't take apart, repair and rebuild. He liked to be a leader in farming practices. Eventually, Henry moved into Humboldt and continued farming from town until the present. An avid outdoorsman, he had a passion for trapping, fishing, hunting and was an excellent marksman. Although Henry was quite content staying close to home, he did make memorable trips to Germany and Florida. Part of his daily morning routine was visiting with his friends on coffee row, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Henry will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his two sisters: Frances (James) Lueke of Humboldt, SK; and Louise (Bill) Taylor of Saskatoon, SK; and by 11 nieces and nephews and 21 great-nieces-and-nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Mathilda (nee Roettger) Bunnemeyer. The Funeral Mass for Henry was held at Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, on Thursday, November 1, 2012, at 2:00 p.m., celebrated by Fr. Gregory Roth. Others taking part were: Mary Schlosser, crossbearer; McLaren Taylor, urnbearer; Marina Weiman, scripture reader; and Kayla Lueke, intentions. Music ministry was provided by organist Dolores Hinz and members of the St. Augustine Parish Funeral Choir. Interment followed at St. Augustine R.C. Cemetery, Humboldt.
