It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of their beloved mother, Helen Bernauer on Thursday, March 12, 2015. Helen was born on March 8, 1932 to August and Helena Berting on the family farm in the Humboldt District. She attended Diamond Willow School and obtained her grade 8 education. Helen worked numerous jobs. Helen was living at home when she received a proposal in the mail, which she then traveled to Exshaw, Alberta to marry the love of her life, Wilfred Bernauer. The happy couple were married on October 31, 1951. They spent the next 55 years together. Helen is survived by her five children: Glen (Diane); Edwin (Lori); Tanya (Hank); Adele (Dave); Arlee (Della); and Jim Bursee who was like a son to her; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren plus one on the way and sister-in-law Marj Berting. Helen was predeceased by her husband, Wilfred; parents, August and Helena; three sisters: Ella, Regina and Agnes; and two brothers: Hubert and Norbert. A Funeral Mass for Helen was offered on Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. from Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home, celebrated by Fr. Daniel Muyres, OSB. Memorial donations in Helen’s memory may be directed to either the Humboldt District Hospital Foundation or Kidney Foundation of Canada. Interment will take place at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Cemetery, LeRoy, at a later date. Funeral arrangements entrusted to MALINOSKI & DANYLUIK FUNERAL HOME, Humboldt.
