Harry Edward Graf:

October 11, 1930 - March 12, 2013

The death of Mr. Harry Edward Graf of Humboldt, SK, occurred at Humboldt District Hospital on Tuesday, March 12, 2013. He was 82 years of age. Harry was born on October 11, 1930, to George and Frances (nee Schmid) Graf at Humboldt. He grew up on the family farm in the Fulda district and attended school in Fulda and Humboldt. In 1947, Harry moved to Humboldt with his parents but continued to help on the farm at Watson. After his father died in 1962, he was a great help to his mother for 40 years. For 11 years, he worked at St. Peter's Press in Muenster. In 1992, Harry met Ruth Wilson at the German Heritage Society Annual Meeting. They shared mutual interests. Harry and Ruth enjoyed singing and dancing with the Waldsee Sing and Tanzkreis groups. Harry was a member of the Water Tower committee, the Humboldt Vintage Club, and the German Heritage Society. As a member of St. Augustine Parish, he often volunteered his time to help fold bulletins. Over the years, Harry made a few trips to Vancouver, Edmonton and various places in Saskatchewan but generally stayed close to home, where he enjoyed simply relaxing and reading the Humboldt Journal and the Prairie Messenger, playing cards, and joining others on coffee row at Trans Café. He was affectionately known as a quiet, modest, patient and kind gentleman. Harry will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Sr. Celine Graf, OSU, of Saskatoon, SK; sister-in-law, Caroline Graf of Humboldt; numerous nieces, nephews and their families; and by his friend and partner, Ruth Wilson of Humboldt and her children, Alex Wilson, William Wilson, and Donna Wilson and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Frances (nee Schmid) Graf; and by four brothers and three sisters: George N. Graf, Urban Graf, Irene (Donald) Bailey, Agnes (Max) Forster, Verna (Henry) Loose, Richard (Dorothy) Graf, and Alfred Graf. The Prayer Service for Harry was held at Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, on Friday, March 15, 2013, at 7:00 p.m., led by Nestor Trach and organist Dolores Hinz. Scripture readers were Sr. Miriam Spenrath, OSU, and Alex Wilson. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Augustine R.C. Church, Humboldt, on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at 10:00 a.m., concelebrated by Fr. Ephraim Mensah and Fr. Daniel Muyres, OSB. Others taking part were: Tanna Miskolczi, crossbearer; Nick Schweighardt and Ed Zintel, altar servers; Annie Ramler and Maria Strasser, scripture readers; Sr. Celine Graf, OSU, intentions; Celine Miskolczi and Kara Miskolczi, giftbearers; Jenny Irwin, Eucharistic Minister; Sandra Stroeder and Helen Musty, memorial table attendants. Music ministry was provided the St. Augustine Parish Funeral Choir. Honorary pallbearers were "all those who shared in Harry's life". Active pallbearers were Garry Graf, Michael Graf, Connie Miskolczi, Brian Loose, Justin Loose, and Pat Forster. Interment will take place at St. Augustine R.C. Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be directed to either the Humboldt Water Tower Committee or the St. Augustine Parish Building Fund. Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, SK.
