The passing of Glen Mueller of Humboldt, SK, occurred on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at the age of 65 years. Glen was born on March 13, 1949, in Humboldt, to Ralph and Frances (nee Ilg) Mueller. He grew up on the family farm in Verndale and went to school at Selmond and Lake Lenore Schools. He quit school in grade 8 because as he tells it, he was too smart for the teacher. Glen was born with a hammer in his hand starting in construction at the 鈥渞ipe old age of 9鈥� working for his Grandpa Ilg. On June 28, 1969, Glen married Violet Mass茅 at St. Anthony鈥檚 Catholic Church in Lake Lenore. Their first child, Fawn, was born in Humboldt, on December 24, 1969. Glen worked at the BACM in Saskatoon and then he moved the family to Edmonton, AB and then to Partridge Hill, AB. Rolanda, their second child, was born in Edmonton, on December 12, 1970. While they were expecting their third child, the family moved back to Humboldt, where finally they had a son, Marty, who was born on May 28, 1974. The family made the move so that Glen could enter into a partnership with Joe Wirtzfeld which they formed and worked together for many years until he decided to start his own company, Glen鈥檚 Construction. Glen sold his company to his employees and good friends, Calvin Berger and Gerry Barnes, due to illness; and later on, he began another construction company called Mueller Foundations and Pile Drilling and later Mueller Construction Inc. Glen and Vi retired on April 1, 2004. After many successful years of working side by side with their son, they knew that Marty would carry on the quality workmanship that Mueller Construction Inc. was known for. Marty and his wife, Katherine, took over the business eventually moving it to Revelstoke, BC where its good name carries on. Glen worked as hard as he played. Through the years, Glen鈥檚 strong work ethic and knowledge led him to be 鈥渢he Builder鈥� and 鈥渢he Inventor鈥� that he was to make the hard work he and his men did everyday easier and more efficient. He did not just create, build and invent things in his work but also for his play. The last great invention that he was so proud of was the doors he built for his and Vi鈥檚 side by side. Glen enjoyed fishing up north, camping and trips to the mountains with his family. He loved hunting, snowmobiling and quadding in the great outdoors. He could often be found visiting with friends and family in his Kokanee Room or tinkering with his latest invention or creation in his shop. Another accomplishment for Glen was his Grandchildren who brought him great Pride and Joy.听 Ryder, Rayne, Chase, Javyn, Oakley, and Brooke were the light of his life. Glen always had his arms open wide for a big hug whenever he saw any of his grandkids. Ashlee Tebbe, daughter of Dean Perry, had her first baby last summer so Glen was able to meet his first Great Grandbaby, Hayley. Glen went camping with his kids and grandkids in the summers teaching the importance of family, time to be spent with friends and instilling an awe of nature in all of us. He made sure that he took all of his grandkids fishing. He assisted in building two sledding shacks for the avid sledders in the area. Glen and Vi shared the 鈥淢oose Shack鈥� in Somme with Jerome and Denise Pratchler which was his second home. If he wasn鈥檛 in his shop in Humboldt, you could find him at the Moose Shack in Somme. Glen was a corner stone, a source of strength and joy for the many lives that he touched each and every day.听 He made his wife, kids and grandkids so proud of him. His quick smile, his constant teasing and his unending willingness to lend a hand to others were the character traits that made Glen a magnetic personality to those of us that couldn鈥檛 help but love him. Glen will be lovingly remembered by his wife Violet (nee Mass茅) Mueller; his children: Fawn (Dean) Perry of Martensville, SK and children Rayne, Javyn and Ashlee Tebbe (Keenan) (Glen鈥檚 step-granddaughter of Calgary) and Hayley (Glen鈥檚 step-great-granddaughter); Rolanda (Vince) McAvoy of Saskatoon, SK and children Chase and Brooke; Marty (Katherine) Mueller of Revelstoke, BC and children Ryder and Oakley; his mother Frances (nee Ilg) Mueller of Humboldt, SK; his siblings, Lorna Albers of Humboldt, Terry Mueller of Humboldt, and Lisa (Wayne) Schroeder of Montreal, QC; in-laws of the Mass茅 Family: Bernadette Stewart of Wiseton, Della Bollefer of Humboldt, Raymond Mass茅 of Edmonton, Darlene (Ivan) Lung of Humboldt, Denise (Joe) Kriston of Meskanaw, Angie Wehage of Saskatoon; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and by a host of friends. He was predeceased by his father Ralph Mueller (February 20, 2005); sister Diane Mueller (March 2, 2007); and in-laws of the Mass茅 family: Henri and Bertha (nee Danielson) Mass茅; John Stewart, Elmer Bollefer and Don Wehage. The Prayer Service for Glen was held at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt, on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at 7:30 p.m. presided by Janice Dobmeier. The organist was Marie Aubin and scripture readers were Tammy Mueller and Joelene Linner. The eulogy was delivered by Jerome Pratchler. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt, on Thursday, January 29, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. celebrated by Fr. Ephraim Mensah. Others taking part were: Ryder Mueller, crossbearer; Ashlee Tebbe and Chad Wehage, scripture readers; Shawn Mueller, intentions; Rayne Perry and Chase McAvoy, giftbearers; and Morley Zerbin and Marj Markwart, memorial table attendants. Honorary pallbearers were Terry Mueller, Willie Meyer, Sylvester Ilg, Brian Lawrence, Lloyd Hassman, Larry Hinz, Guys on Coffee Row, Kokanee Room Visitors, and all the People that Worked and Played beside Glen. Active pallbearers were George Wehage, Murray Stelzer, Ronnie Poppel, Jerome Pratchler, Bob Perry, Denis Saretsky, Dave Wanhella and Keith Eisner. Interment followed at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Cemetery, Humboldt. Memorial donations may be directed to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Wildlife Federation.
