Gerald "Gerry" Strueby of Englefeld, SK, passed away suddenly on Friday, July 30, 2010, at Marean Lake, SK. He was 71 years of age. Gerry was born on May 26, 1939, to Meinard and Cecelia Strueby in Humboldt, SK.

Gerald "Gerry" Strueby of Englefeld, SK, passed away suddenly on Friday, July 30, 2010, at Marean Lake, SK. He was 71 years of age. Gerry was born on May 26, 1939, to Meinard and Cecelia Strueby in Humboldt, SK. He was raised on a farm near Marysburg where he received his education. In 1960 he married the love of his life, Josephine Hohmann in Chilliwack, BC and in 1962, they moved to Fulda, SK. Their marriage was blessed with six children. Gerry worked for the Searle Grain Company, Federal and Sask. Wheat Pool, a career which lasted thirty two years. In 1973 he opened Strueby Agencies, his own insurance company in Englefeld. Away from work Gerry enjoyed curling, baseball, fishing, carpentry, playing guitar and spending time with his family, especially at their Marean Lake cabin. He was a very giving man, and was always ready to help anyone in need. Gerry will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, JOSEPHINE (nee Hohmann) Strueby of Englefeld; three daughters, three sons, and their families: PATTI (Cyril) Wehner of Watson, SK, and their children Raquelle and Stephan; BEV Strueby of Victoria, BC; KELLY (Brenda) Strueby of Watson and their children Jeremy (Kerri) and daughter, Jayna of Swift Current, SK, Jesse and Jerrett; TERRY (Sharon) Strueby of Regina, SK, and their children Adam, Erin, and Jeffrey; DEBORAH Hagen of Regina and her daughters Nicole and Jordan; and KEVIN (Alexis) Strueby of Winnipeg, MB; three brothers and one sister: Elmer (Annabelle) Strueby of Nipawin, SK; Ken (Joan) Strueby and James Strueby, both of Chilliwack, BC; Marianne (Doug) Moore of Richmond, BC; and sister-in-law, Georgina Strueby of Campbell River, BC. He was predeceased by his parents, Meinard and Cecelia (nee Britz) Strueby; and one brother, Donald Strueby. The Prayer Service for Gerry was held at Holy Guardian Angels R.C. Church, Englefeld, on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 7:30 p.m., presided by Marie ven der Buhs and Patsy Knafelc. Scripture readers were Jeremy Strueby and Alice Radoux, and the eulogy was delivered by Jeremy Strueby, Sharon Strueby and Alexis Strueby. The Funeral Mass was offered on Thursday, August 5, 2010, at 10:00 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Darryl Millette. Others taking part were: Michael Carnago, cross bearer; Adam Strueby, Raquelle Wehner and Bev Strueby, urn bearers; Carol Sommer, intentions; Jordan and Nicole Hagen and Erin Strueby, gift bearers; Georgina Athmer, eucharistic minister; Brenda Strunk and Paula Carnago, memorial table attendants. Interment followed at Holy Guardian Angels R.C. Cemetery, Englefeld. Memorial donations may be directed to either the Holy Guardian Angels Cemetery Fund, or the David Ronald Bell Cardiac Endowment Fund, care of Humboldt District Hospital Foundation.
