HERMANN: Gerald
Gerry Hermann passed away at the age of 73 on June 24, 2017 at St. Paul’s Hospital after two years of failing health ending with a lengthy battle with lung cancer. His quiet acceptance of numerous health struggles attests to his strength of character and personality. Gerry was a journeyman mechanic starting at the Shell Station in Humboldt followed by a 39- year career at PCS Lanigan from which he retired in 2013. Gerry loved his work and in the early days he used it as a hobby working on vehicles in his own garage. Gerry made friends of all he worked with, young and old. His co-workers became a second family and it was difficult for Gerry to say good-bye when he retired. Gerry loved country music, football, hockey, poker with his brothers and sharing a beer with friends. Above all, Gerry loved his family and enjoyed many precious years camping and just chillin’ at Wakaw Lake. Gerry was most happy when visitors came over for a laugh and a fireside visit. He had a generous heart and always saw the positive in people and in situations. Left to remember him are his children Craig (Ann) and sons Blake and Tyler; Lisa Kleiter (Mike) and Joelle Melnychuk (Brad) and daughter Kinlee, and Kristen (Chad); Terry and son Matthew Poppel (Angel) and children Silas and Peyton. Gerry was predeceased by his wife Arlene whose battle with lymphoma ended in November, 2015. A prayer service will be held Wednesday, June 28th 7:30pm at Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home, Hwy 5 East, Humboldt, SK. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 29th at St. Augustine Church, 809-10th Street, Humboldt, SK at 10:00am.
