Frederick Clement, of Edmonton, passed into the near presence of the Lord on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at the age of 98. Fred will be forever loved and missed by daughters Carolyn (Ron), Sorrento BC; Lorraine (Jim), Edmonton; Katherine (Ernie), Holden AB; and sons Frederick (Patti), Nanaimo, BC; and Clement (Kelly), Edmonton; as well as twenty-two grandchildren and forty-nine great-grandchildren. Fred was predeceased by his mother Harriet (Lloyd) Bray; father Frederick Charles Bray; sisters, Grace Fehler and Olive Neville; brother Keith Bray; wife Lillian (Robins) Bray; daughter Victoria Ford; and granddaughter Nicole Jarvis. Fred was born and raised in Guernsey, Saskatchewan. He was always proud of his hometown and prairie heritage. His marriage to Lillian took place at the small rural Anglican Church of St. Peter’s Mancroft, on July 24, 1941. He worked in various locations in Saskatchewan until 1958 when the family, which then included 6 children, moved to Lacombe, Alberta. ÌýFred worked for a number of years in the insurance business in Lacombe and Grande Prairie, then settled in Calgary in 1968. Music was always a part of Fred’s life. He played clarinet and saxophone in numerous settings, from quartet to big band as well as recorder in the Early Music Society in Calgary. He was made an Honourary Life Member of the Canadian Federation of Musicians and the Liberal Party. Fred also enjoyed family outings, rose gardening, calligraphy, various sports, and community volunteering. He was a dedicated Christian, and life-long member of the Anglican Church. A Visitation took place from 6:00 p.m., with Prayers commencing at 7:30 p.m. on Friday August 26, 2016 at St. John’s Anglican Church, Edmonton. Reverend Don Aellen presided over the Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the same location, with the viewing prior to service from 1:00 – 1:45 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date near Humboldt, Saskatchewan. The family requests donations, in lieu of flowers, be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, or to the Prayer Book Society of Canada, Edmonton Branch, 43 Stirling Road, Edmonton, AB, T5X 4C2.
