GRAY:

The family is saddened to announce that Mrs. Evelyn Mae (nee Jewett) Gray, 90 years, of Humboldt passed away at Humboldt District Hospital on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 surrounded by her family. Evelyn was born at North Branch, ON. She obtained her education at a country school in the area. It was through her sister that she met the love of her life Britton Gray and they were married on July 29, 1940 in Ontario. Together they worked at a tourist camp. Evelyn and Britton moved to Vancouver for a few years then returned to Ontario. In 1949 they moved to Saskatchewan and began farming in the Carmel District where they remained until 1974 when they retired to Humboldt. A homemaker was where Evelyn's heart was; she loved looking after the home and caring for her family of four boys: Luther, Robert, Gerald, Barry and one daughter: Sharon. While on the farm Evelyn was kept very busy with her large beautiful vegetable garden. She was an excellent cook and would preserve many delicious items for the family to enjoy year round. Evelyn's homemade bread and matrimonial cake were just a few of her specialties. She did some embroidery in her quiet time. Evelyn and Britton made many trips to both the west coast and to Ontario to visit family. After retiring to Humboldt, she worked at the Pioneer Motor Hotel and Windsor Hotel in the housekeeping department. She loved being with people and greatly enjoyed playing cards and visiting while playing bingo. She also enjoyed bowling in her earlier years. Evelyn thoroughly enjoyed bus trips to many casino's in the area and the USA. Evelyn was a member of the Humboldt Legion Auxiliary. Though she was a very social person and loved being with people, there was a private side to Evelyn where she demonstrated a very spiritual life for her family and lived by a positive example for her children. Evelyn will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her five children, thirteen grandchildren and many great grandchildren: LUTHER (Florence) Gray of Saskatoon and family Kimberly Schommer (Calvin) of Saskatoon and Wallace Gray (Jenny) of Lloydminster, AB; ROBERT (Pat) Gray and family Trevor Gray (Georgina), Lori Hofley (Russ) and Jana Kennedy (Ken) all of Regina; SHARON (Syl) Borysko of Humboldt and family Darren Borysko (Cyndie) of Hinton, AB and Dean Borysko (Stephanie) of Saskatoon; GERALD (Donna) Gray of Guelph, ON and family Melanie Murgatroyd (Don) of Regina, Jeff Gray (Holly) of Wasaga Beach, ON, Curtis Gray and Cory Gray both of Regina; and BARRY (Laurie) Gray of Kamloops, BC and family Jodi Gray (Wade) of Abbotsford, BC and Kelsie Gray of Kamloops, BC; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Britton (1979); parents George and Mary Jewett; nine siblings and members of the Gray family. A Funeral Service was held on Monday, February 11, 2013 at 2:00 pm. Officiated by Brenda Curtis at Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home. Interment followed at the Humboldt Public Cemetery. Memorial donations in Evelyn's memory may be directed to the Humboldt District Hospital Foundation. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to MALINOSKI & DANYLUIK FUNERAL HOME Humboldt,SK.
