DUST: Eileen
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother, Eileen Dust (nee Stone). Eileen passed away July 27, 2014 at St. Paul's Hospital with family by her side. She is survived by her children: Brian, Joan (Ron) Young and grandchildren: Anna and Emily; son David and grandchildren: Katie and Audra; son Gregory; daughter Karen (Dave) Delahey and grandchildren: Robyn (Cody), Matt, Jena, and Morgan. She is survived by her sister Marion (Garry) Fletcher, nieces: Cathy, Maureen, Patty, and nephew Brad. She is predeceased by her husband Ken. She is also survived by her life long friends we consider family. Eileen was born in Lashburn, SK on January 4, 1930, to Orville and Ann Stone. As the daughter of a bank manager she moved throughout Saskatchewan, including Turtleford. In her teens she excelled at piano, track and field, and softball. She graduated from St. Paul's Nursing as an RN in 1951. She worked for a few years in Toronto at the Sick Children's Hospital before nursing at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Humboldt. She married Ken Dust in 1955. They had five children whom she devoted her life to raising. Ken died suddenly in 1975 at the age of 52 leaving her a single mother. She fully embraced the circumstances and truly set the bar high for her own children to follow. Eileen was an art enthusiast, loved to travel, read, play bridge, and rallied for the Liberal Party. She was active in the Catholic Women's League in Humboldt and later became a member of the Saskatoon Club. She was the Christmas pie maker extraordinaire. She was passionate about watching hockey, and CFL football on television especially her beloved Riders. Her life long friends are a tribute to the lovely kind person she was, and her spirit and vitality will be dearly missed. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, July 31 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Paul's Co-Cathedral where she was a member. This was followed by a reception at the Delta Bessborough. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Paul's Hospital Foundation (1702 - 20th St W, Saskatoon, S7M 0Z9).
