The passing of Donald James Kirsch of Middle Lake, SK, occurred on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at the age of 66 years. Donald was born on June 24, 1949; he was the eldest son of William and Lorraine (nee Steinhauer) Kirsch. He attended a one-room country school (Lucien Lake) up to grade 5. When that school closed he completed his education at Middle Lake School. Then farming became his career and for the next 54 years he worked with his father, Bill, and brother, Delbert, raising purebred Polled Herefords. Donald moved into Middle Lake in summer of 2011 and began working for Kirsch Construction. His greatest joys in life (not necessarily in this order) were his cow herd, his saddle horse, family, visiting anyone and everyone, laughing, eating, dancing and more dancing. He showed extraordinary strength and courage over the last six months battling cancer and was an inspiration to us all. Donald will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his brother Delbert (Valerie) Kirsch; his three sisters Gail Kirsch(Barry Burns), Fay Kirsch and Elaine(Steve) Jordan; nieces Roxanne Kirsch, Tracy(Mark) Oddan; nephews Jonathan(Charissa) Kirsch and Stephen Jordan(Stacey Cameron); great-nephews Carter and Lincoln Oddan. He was predeceased by his parents William and Lorraine Kirsch and great-nephew Asher Oddan. A Memorial Service for Donald was held at Faith Lutheran Church, Middle Lake, on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Pastor John Rapp. Others taking part were: Scott Kirsch and Jason Kirsch, ushers; Tracy and Mark Oddan, duet; Ruth Pudrycki and Ingrid Lechler; memorial table attendants, and the eulogy was delivered by Delbert Kirsch. Interment will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be directed to Bethany Pioneer Village or Canadian Cancer Society. Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, SK.
