HUESER: Donald
January 7, 1938 – June 19, 2017
The peaceful death of Donald Hueser, 79 years, of Pilger occurred on Monday, June 19, 2017 at Humboldt District Hospital, with family by his side. Donald was born on January 7, 1938 at home on the farm in the Pilger district to Louis and Anne (nee Freriks) Hueser. He grew up on the farm and attended St. Bernard’s School. Donald began farming with his dad and eventually took over the family farm. On October 20, 1964, he married Helen Sterner at St. James. They continued to operate a mixed farming operation and raise their family on the farm. For the last few years before his retirement, Donald worked at Assie Industries in St. Brieux. In his younger years, he was an avid ball player and over the years also enjoyed curling and bowling. Donald regularly played pool and became quite the “shark”. He enjoyed carpentry and woodworking, making a variety of projects. Donald enjoyed the summer time when he could go berry picking. Playing cards and visiting with family and friends was another favourite pastime. Spending time with his grandchildren was the highlight of his days. Donald will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 52 years, Helen Hueser of Pilger; their four children and 10 grandchildren: Beverley (Lorne) Schmidt of Humboldt and family Chantale Schmidt (Ryan Yeager) of Saskatoon and Shaun (Shaunna) Schmidt of Humboldt; Bruce Hueser of Pilger; Shelly (Russel) Back of Muenster and family Bailey Back of Saskatoon, Lane Back and Clay Back, both of Muenster; and Susan (Steven) Pylot and family Sage, Sommer-Anne, Sierra, Sydney, and Stephanie of Meadow Lake; and two sisters: Phyllis (Andrew) Massé of Humboldt and Joan (Don) Koch of Guernsey. Donald was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Anne Hueser; brothers: Norbert, Gilbert, Clarence and Carl Hueser, and niece Trina Massé. A Private family service was held at St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Cemetery. Memorial Donations in Donald’s memory may be directed to St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home, Humboldt.
