Dolores passed away peacefully at Sunnyside Nursing Home, on Sunday, January 3, 2016, at the age of 85. She is survived by her sister Barbara Poppel; 16 nieces and nephews; 35 great-nieces and nephews; and 21 great-great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Annie; sister: Benedicta (Joseph) Gebauer; brothers: Francis X. (Florence), Ralph (Hilda), and Lawrence (Marcella) (Alvina); brother-in-law: Lawrence Poppel; and special friend Bill Kimpton. Dolores became a teacher in 1949 and went on to teach in various locations throughout Saskatchewan and retired from the Saskatoon Catholic School Division in 1984. During this time, she received a B. Ed. and B. A. from the University of Saskatchewan. The family would like to thank the staff at Sunnyside for their compassionate care of Dolores. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Paul’s, City Hospital, or Royal University Hospital Foundations. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, January 11th at St. Philip Neri Roman Catholic Church, Saskatoon. The Rite of Committal will be held at a later date in Humboldt, SK.
