SARETSKY: Clarence Andrew

May 4, 1948 – November 30, 2014

The passing of Clarence Andrew Saretsky of St. Mary’s Villa, Humboldt, SK, occurred at Humboldt District Hospital, Humboldt, on Sunday, November 30, 2014. He was 66 years of age. Clarence was born on May 4, 1948, to Joseph and Margaret (nee Hinz) Saretsky in Humboldt. He was raised on the family farm seven miles south of Muenster, SK, and attended Muenster and St. Gertrude schools. Following his education, Clarence worked for a while at Al’s Welding in Muenster. After that, for many years, he was employed with Sarcan and Futuristic Industries. His favorite pastimes were reading, watching television, listening to the radio (especially the Saturday Night Dance Party), singing, playing on his I-Pad, visiting on the telephone, and going for drives. On May 23, 2008, due to failing health, Clarence became a resident of St. Mary’s Villa, which truly became a comfortable home to him. He was very content there and the staff were like extended family. His family wants to express their sincere gratitude to them for the tender, loving care they gave their brother. Clarence will be lovingly remembered by two sisters and three brothers: Lauraine Saretsky of Edmonton, AB; Leo Saretsky of Humboldt; Stella (Barry) Berglund of Saskatoon and family, Zachary (Leanne) Berglund and daughter Keira, and Starlene (Anders) Hermanson; Maurice (Norma) Saretsky of Muenster and family, Shauna (Devin) Ilg and children Rebecca and Hudson, and Jordan Saretsky; and Wilfred Saretsky (Lucy and her son Willie) of Theodore, SK. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Margaret (nee Hinz) Saretsky; and by his brother, Elmer (Linda) Saretsky. The Prayer Service for Clarence was held at Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at 7:00 p.m., officiated by Nestor Trach and organist Dolores Hinz. Scripture readers were Lauraine Saretsky and Sr. Denise Hinz, and the eulogy was delivered by Lauraine Saretsky and Stella Berglund. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Augustine R.C. Church, Humboldt, on Thursday, December 4, 2014, at 10:30 a.m, celebrated by Fr. Ephraim Mensah. Others taking part were: Leo Saretsky, crossbearer; Lauraine Saretsky and Sr. Denise Hinz, scripture readers; Lillian Hinz, intentions; Sr. Louise Hinz and Lillian Hinz, giftbearers; Agatha Rueve and Terry Wiesner, memorial table attendants. Honorary pallbearers were “all those who shared in Clarence’s life”. Active pallbearers were Maurice Saretsky, Jordan Saretsky, Ronald Saretsky, Mark Zimmer, Glen Zlukosky, and George Hinz. Interment followed at St. Augustine R.C. Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to the St. Mary’s Villa Foundation. Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, SK.
