KNIHNITSKI: Clara Veronica

January 10, 1928 – November 4, 2016

The death of Mrs. Clara Veronica (nee Saretzky) Knihnitski of Saskatoon, SK, (and formerly of Peterson, SK), occurred at Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon, on Friday, November 4, 2016. She was 88 years of age. Clara, the ninth in a family of 12 children, was born to Alex and Pauline (nee Loroff) Saretzky on Tuesday, January 10th, 1928, at Viscount, SK. She spent her childhood on the family homestead in the R.M. of Viscount, and attended school at Esterlea and Meacham. On June 4th, 1947, Clara married Fred Knihnitski. After living in Meacham, they moved to Peterson, where they resided for the next 50 years. Clara was a happy homemaker who took pride in raising her seven children. She kept herself busy with a huge garden and doing the odd cleaning job around Peterson. Clara was an active C.W.L. member for St. Agnes Parish, and was honored to accept her 50-year pin from the C.W.L.  She also worked as a cook at the 2 & 5 Junction for a few years. Clara was well known around the countryside for her amazing homemade perogies. Fred and Clara loved camping and spending time with their children and grandchildren. She adored and enjoyed every minute with her 25 grandchildren. After Fred passed away on Wednesday, December 31st, 1997, Clara made a difficult life altering decision. She decided to move to Saskatoon for her remaining years. Clara enjoyed bowling, bingo, cards and having coffee with her friends. She looked forward to the days when Linda and Shirley would take her to the Casino for Seniors’ Day. Clara was a sharp Kaiser player, who always knew who had the five of hearts.
