It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Christine (nee Wolsfeld) Langhorst of St. Mary’s Villa, Humboldt, SK. She passed away peacefully at St. Paul’s Hospital, Saskatoon, SK, on Saturday, February 21, 2015, at the age of 92. Christine was born on December 25, 1922, to Joseph and Mary (nee Grittner) Wolsfeld at Lake Lenore, SK. She attended Bright Valley School near Lake Lenore where she completed her Grade 10 education. Christine then went to work for the Langhorst family where she met Frank Langhorst. They were married on June 17, 1942, and made their home on a farm near Willmont Church. Christine and Frank raised four children, two daughters and two sons. In 1972, the Langhorsts retired from farming and moved to Humboldt. Christine worked for many years and was involved with the Rebekah Sunshine Lodge. She was an amazing cook, loved to garden, and spent many fulfilling hours over the years crocheting and knitting innumerable blankets. Christine especially enjoyed playing cards and was exceptionally good at playing scrabble. A very kind, loving and caring lady, she had many friends and was always there to help whenever she was able. “Merciful Jesus, grant her eternal rest and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.†Christine will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her four children: Garth Langhorst of Strathmore, AB; Norma Maher and Lloyd Langhorst, both of Vancouver, BC; and Linda (Grant) Kolbeck of Lake Country, BC; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Lucille Hackl of Prince Albert, SK; one sister-in-law, Gerry Wolsfeld of Minneapolis, MN; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
