Cecilia Broberg, of Spalding SK, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 years at St. Paul's Palliative Care Unit in Saskatoon with her family by her side. She fought a courageous battle with cancer. Cecilia Sweluk was born in Veronozh Russia, the eldest of four children. After immigrating to Canada the family settled in the Lac Vert area. Cecilia received her degree as an RN from St. Boniface hospital in Winnipeg. After teaching nursing classes in Winnipeg and Vancouver, Cec married Doug Broberg of Spalding. Together they raised eight children on the family farm. She continued her nursing career at the Spalding hospital from 1968-1984. Cec will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her family, relatives and friends. Cecilia was predeceased by her husband Douglas; parents Agatha and Alexander Sweluk; sister Lil Emard and brother Bob Sweluk. She is survived by children: Warren (Sandra) Broberg (Kurt and Jacqueline) Spalding; Lucille Broberg (David Kenney) (Leiya) Olympia WA; Marcia (Don) Harris (Carla, Brandon,[Andrea] Vaughn) Raymore; Eric (Pat) Broberg (David, Debra, Daniel) Saskatoon ; Earl (Louise) Broberg (Ryan, Rachelle [Jason] Orth, Randy) Saskatoon; Pamela Broberg Calgary; Jim Broberg Spalding; Janice (Gary) Waterhouse (Nathan, Jennifer, Caitlyn, Jayne) Lac Vert; two great grandchildren Daniel Godoy- Rodriguez and Oliver Harris. She is also survived by her sister, Rae Bridgeman. A celebration of Cec's life will be held at Crossroads Bible Church, Spalding, SK on June 21 at 2 pm. Interment at Dovre Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made in Cec's memory to the St. Paul's Palliative Care Unit, Saskatoon or a charity of your choice.
