CATHERINE RITA DAUKJune 29, 1922 - June 23, 2011The death of Mrs. Catherine Rita (nee Hagerty) Dauk of Quill Plains Centennial Lodge, Watson, SK, (and formerly of Annaheim, SK), occurred peacefully at her residence on Thursday, June 23, 2011. She was 88 years of age. Catherine was born on June 29, 1922, in her parents' home on the Hagerty farm near Annaheim. She attended Laurier School in Annaheim. Catherine married Martin Dauk on October 7, 1941, in St. Ann's R.C. Church in Annaheim. "She often marvelled that a red-haired Irish girl could have caught this handsome German man." Catherine's life was spent on the farm as a wife, mother and a homemaker. She helped with the chores (cows, pigs and chickens), planted and managed a large garden, including the final touches of preserving the produce with pride. Catherine was known as a superb cook and baker. "Her men were always well fed." Catherine was a lifelong CWL member and would cook for numerous community events and weddings. She always expressed her appreciation and joy in her sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Catherine's faith was also very important to her, and her family and friends were always remembered in her prayers. She had the ability to make each family member feel as though they were a very special and precious individual. Catherine's life was one of "service". Nearly three years ago, she moved to Quill Plains Centennial Lodge in Watson, where she was able to receive the care she required until her passing. Catherine will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 69 years, Martin Dauk of Annaheim; five sons, 11 grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren: PETER (Valerie) Dauk of Annaheim and family, Vanessa (Mark) Schemenauer and their children Danielle, Nicole, Kalie and Joel, Sheri-Ann (Jason) Praski and their children Anna and Brennan, James (Joanna) Dauk and their children Evalina and Isabella; JEROME (Coleen) Dauk of Annaheim and family, Laurie Dauk (Mike Bowden) and daughter Maya, Melanie Dauk, Beth Dauk (Earl Paul), and Ross Dauk; MURRAY (Ruby) Dauk of Vancouver, BC; RALPH (Linda) Dauk of Saskatoon and family, Robert (Erin) Dauk, Jennifer (Michael) Jaspar and daughter Katherine, Kevin (Janna) Dauk, and Sarah Dauk (fiance Thomas McKay); and GERALD Dauk of Annaheim; one sister, Sr. Mary Hagerty of Regina; three sisters-in-law: Helen Dauk of Kamloops, BC, Caroline Dauk of Bruno, and Ann Doepker of Humboldt; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son, James Dauk (in infancy); one daughter-in-law, Patricia Henry-Dauk; parents, Walter and Ellen (nee Gillespie) Hagerty; two brothers: Walter (Clara) Hagerty and Thomas (Marie) Hagerty; and by brothers-in-law, Carl Dauk, Arnold (Marie) Dauk, Richard Dauk, Jerome Dauk, and Jack (Josephine) Junk. The Prayer Service for Catherine was held at St. Ann's R.C. Church, Annaheim, on Sunday, June 26, 2011, at 7:30 p.m., presided by Fr. Richard Meidl, OSB. Others taking part were: Vanessa Schemenauer and Beth Dauk, scripture readers; Ralph Dauk, eulogist; Ralph Dauk family, music ministry. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Ann's R.C. Church on Monday, June 27, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., concelebrated by Fr. Richard Meidl, OSB, and Fr. Rudolph Novecosky, OSB. Others taking part were: Danielle Schemenauer, cross bearer; Anna Praski and Kalie Schemenauer, altar servers; Sheri Praski and Sarah Dauk, scripture readers; Melanie Dauk, intentions; Ralph Dauk family, music ministry; Nicole and Joel Schemenauer, Brennan Praski, Maya Bowden and Laurie Dauk, gift bearers. Pallbearers were Robert, James, Kevin, and Ross Dauk, Mark Schemenauer, Mike Bowden, Jason Praski, and Earl Paul. Interment followed at St. Ann's R.C. Cemetery, Annaheim. Memorial donations may be directed to either the St. Ann's R.C. Cemetery Fund, Humboldt District Hospital Foundation, or the Quill Plains Centennial Lodge Heritage Garden Fund.
