ANNIE GEBAUERAugust 19, 1919 - February 8th, 2011The death of Mrs. Annie (nee Kropodra) Gebauer of Sunset Manor, Humboldt, occurred at Humboldt District Hospital on Tuesday, February 8th, 2011. She was 91 years of age. Annie was born on August 19th, 1919 to Nicholas and Catherine (nee Kashuba) Kropodra on their farm near Hazel Dell, SK. Annie attended Hazel Dell country school where she completed her grade ten. She then enrolled in a hair dressing course in Saskatoon and also worked as a nanny for a local lawyer. She took her first hair dressing job in Humboldt at Rose's Beauty Salon on Main Street. In Humboldt she met Bill Gebauer and they were married on June 2, 1953 at All Saints U.C. Church. After their marriage, Annie opened her own salon in their residence at 702 - 4th Avenue where she began raising her family of four. In 1967 the family moved to 232-6th Street where Annie lived until 2008 when she made Sunset Manor her home. Annie was involved in her community. She was a member of the C.W.L., the square dancing club, and taught sewing in 4-H for many years. Annie enjoyed playing Bingo and always seemed to have good luck. She also enjoyed playing cards - Kaiser, Smir and Canasta just to name a few, and especially playing these games with her grandchildren. Annie was very proud of her large garden where a weed was never found. Her greatest pride was her family which was front and centre in her life. Annie will be lovingly remembered by one daughter, three sons and their families: Lorna (John) Scherr of Vanscoy and family, Corrie Scherr, James (Lori) Scherr and son Zachary, and Derek Scherr; David Gebauer of Richmond, BC, and family, Kaylynn Gebauer and Tera Gebauer; Daryl (Yvonne) Gebauer of Humboldt and family, Shawn (Beth) Gebauer and children Alexis and Jase, and Kyle (Jessica) Gebauer and son Owen; Ken Gebauer (Laura Gibson) of Prince George, BC, and his son Brandon; one sister, Mary Madarash of Preeceville; one sister-in-law, Bernice Kropodra of Canora; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Debra Marie Gebauer; husband, Bill Gebauer; parents, Nicholas and Catherine (nee Kashuba) Kropodra; three brothers and three sisters: John Kropodra, Mike Kropodra, Harry Kropodra, Nettie (Peter) Daschuk, Pettress (John) Bay, and Ella Abromovich. The Prayer Service for Annie was held at Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel on Thursday, February 10th, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. led by Walter Saraurer and organist Marie Aubin. Others taking part were: Kyle and Yvonne Gebauer, scripture readers; and Daryl and Ken Gebauer, eulogists. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Augustine R.C. Church, Humboldt, on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 10:30 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Emile April. Others taking part were: Magdalen Dagenais and Kyle Gebauer, scripture readers; Yvonne Gebauer, intentions; Lee and Marlene Lefebvre, gift bearers; Brandon Gebauer, honorary pallbearer. Active Pallbearers were James Scherr, John Scherr, Corrie Scherr, Kyle Gebauer, Shawn Gebauer, and Gar Hobbs. The interment followed at St. Augustine R.C. Cemetery, Humboldt.
