FRERICHS: Alois "Al" Ferdinand

December 4, 1936 - December 14, 2013

The death of Mr. Alois "Al" Frerichs of St. Gregor, SK, occurred at Humboldt District Hospital, Humboldt, SK, on Saturday, December 14, 2013. He was 77 years of age. Al was born to Gustav and Maria (nee Klinker) Frerichs on December 4, 1936, on the family farm in the St. Gregor district. He grew up there and attended St. Gregor School, where he attained his Grade 8 education. In his childhood years, Al helped on the family farm and then ventured out and worked as a labourer at various jobs. After some time, he returned home to farm with his brothers, which he continued until the late 1980's. In August of 1961, Al married Marianne Uliski in Marysburg. They were blessed with four children, two sons and two daughters. Al worked at Western Industries and was also on the Hog Commission in St. Gregor. He was also known as St. Gregor's handyman, doing plumbing and furnace work for people in the community. Al enjoyed attending auction sales, playing cards with family and friends, driving around in the spring watching the water run, and in the fall watching the combines go. He especially enjoyed stopping at the local watering hole in St. Gregor. Al was a loving and caring father and grandfather. Al will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Marianne (nee Uliski) Frerichs; their family: Kevin (Mary Jean) Frerichs and their dogs Tilt and Pozz; Garry Frerichs; Shelley (Gord) Bernauer and their children Dustin Bernauer (Krista Williams) and Deandra Bernauer (Connor Mutch); Leah (Jim) Lopinski and their children Jeffrey and Robyn Lopinski; brothers and sisters, Tony (Dolores) Frerichs, Anne Strueby, Mary Frerichs, Leo (Agnes) Frerichs; and numerous nieces and nephews and members of the Uliski family. He was predeceased by his parents Gustav and Maria (nee Klinker) Frerichs; sister, Mary Frerichs; brothers, Bernard Frerichs and Gerhard Taphorn; and brother-in-law, Isidore Strueby. A private family graveside service was held at St. Gregory Roman Catholic Cemetery, St. Gregor, SK. Memorial donations may be directed to the St. Gregory Roman Catholic Cemetery Fund. Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, SK.
