The death of Mrs. Adina (nee Krassin) Lemke of Bethany Pioneer Village, Middle Lake, SK, occurred at Humboldt District Hospital, Humboldt, SK, on Monday, January 23, 2012. She was 96 years of age, and the surviving member of her generation. Adina was born on June 30, 1915, to Gustav and Hulda (nee Schneider) Krassin in Radamischl, Russia. The days of her childhood and early youth were spent there. In 1929, Adina immigrated to Canada, made her home in Bruderheim, Alberta, and began working for a family in the area. Eventually, she met Erich Lemke and they were married on August 12, 1949, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Bruderheim. Their union was blessed with three daughters. Erich had farmed with his parents on the homestead west of Middle Lake. Ultimately, he took over the operation. Erich and Adina farmed there until 1977, when they sold the farm and moved into Middle Lake. Of utmost importance to Adina and her family was their strong faith in the Lord. Sunday mornings always began by going to worship at Faith Lutheran Church. As well, Adina was a dedicated member of the Ladies' Aid and the Altar Guild for many years. Among Adina's favorite hobbies and interests were gardening, quilting, playing cards (especially games of Smear on Sunday afternoons), visiting with family and friends, and going on bus tours. After living in Middle Lake for 23 years, Adina and Erich sold their house and moved into Kinsmen Court in Humboldt. There, they enjoyed having friends over, making new acquaintances, working on jigsaw and word search puzzles and going bowling. In March 2009, Adina and Erich returned to Middle Lake to reside in Birch Manor at Bethany Pioneer Village. On August 12th that year, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with close family and friends. Just three months and one day later, Erich passed away. Adina continued to reside at Bethany until the present. After a long, full and interesting life, she leaves her family with many fond memories. Adina will be lovingly remembered by her three daughters, eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren: Elaine (Jim) Siegel of Humboldt and family, Terry Siegel, Trent (Alyssa) Siegel and children Kaydence and Khylar, and Brian (Janelle) Siegel; Eileen (Jack) Tremeer of Shell Lake, SK, and family, Kim (Rod) Schira and daughter Demyra, and Eric (Vanessa) Tremeer; and Sharon (Gordon) Epp of Regina, SK, and family, Jeanine (Rob) Rennebohm and children Rhea, Tare and Kian, Tegan (Jesse) Mitchell and daughter Bailey, and Scott Epp (fiancée Lindsey); and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Erich Lemke (2009); parents, Gustav and Hulda (nee Schneider) Krassin; and by three sisters: Ida (Julius) Yanke, Natalia (Adolph) Weber, and Ottelia (Emil) Naundorf. The Funeral Service was held at St. John's Lutheran Church, Humboldt, on Thursday, January 26, 2012, at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Robert Grout. The scripture reader was Gordon Epp and music ministry was provided by pianist Elaine Hoeflicher. Honorary pallbearers were "all those who shared in Adina's life." Active pallbearers were Terry, Trent and Brian Siegel, Kim Schira, Eric Tremeer, Jeanine Rennebohm, Tegan Mitchell and Scott Epp. Interment will follow at Humboldt Public Cemetery.
