Twenty-five 4-H members speak out at Communications Day

Speeches and poems presented to panel of judges.

MAIDSTONE — Maidstone Gully Multiple 4-H Club's Communications Day took place at Milleton Hall on Sunday, Feb. 23.

Twenty-five members presented a delightful assortment of speeches and poems. Thank you to the judges, Trina Chocan, Dana Johnston, Sydney Payne and Kyla Brett who were hard-pressed to make top choices.

Following are the winners.

Cloverbuds speech: Katie Mosher (Our Dogs), Claire Sutherland (Jokes); Cloverbuds poem: Aubrianna Waugh (Tis the Season), Parker Tuplin (My Shadow).

Junior speech: Jacob Gerlinsky (Volunteering), Landen Myer (Komodo Dragons); Junior ooem: Karli Myer ( I Wrote A Poem), Kacey Valliere-Cooke (A Dog For All Seasons).

Intermediate speech: Jayce Myer (Herefords),  Logan Gerlinsky (4-H Camp); Intermediate poem: Jack Foster (The Daily of A Mechanic), Ben Foster (Steam Locomotives).

Senior speech: Hunter Allen (Small Town Saskatchewan), Mickey Blyth (Figure Out My Future); Senior poem: Jayden Rempel (Where The Sidewalk Ends), Saidai Mosher (Untitled Poem).

All the members are to be commended for their efforts. It’s not easy for most to get up on a stage in front of a crowd. Other orations included Junior: Charles Sutherland (Video Games), Harper Johnston (Moon-Catchin'), Jason Mosher (The Sandwich), Olivia Carson (My Baby Sister), Rachel Oddan (Guardian Dogs); Intermediate: Kayden Tuplin (Equipment), Kayden Valliere-Cooke (My Truck), Keaton Breadner (Winter Dark), Lane Mosher (True Friends). Missing was Tristan Blyth, a senior, due to illness.

Following prize presentations and thank-yous to the judges, everyone enjoyed an assortment of tasty treats. Thank you to all the guests for coming, and to 4-H families and members for an entertaining afternoon.
