Update: Dangerous persons believed to be in Thunder Rapids area

PRINCE ALBERT - Third Update, Oct. 24, 12:02 p.m.: Officers from multiple Saskatchewan RCMP units and detachments are now in the Thunder Rapids area and continue to search for the suspects.

Police say they have no further investigational updates at the moment.

The dangerous person alert remains in place; police ask that people in the Thunder Rapids area to remain in a secure location with locked doors and windows. People in the area should not stop for hitch hikers or approach suspicious persons.

People in other nearby areas should also take precautions.

Investigators continue to ask members of the public to report all information or sightings of suspicious persons to 9-1-1.

Police say they will continue to provide updates as they can.

Second Update, Oct. 24, 10:43 a.m.: The suspects are now believed to be on foot in the Thunder Rapids area on Highway 123. They are no longer in the vehicle. The public is advised to stay away from this area.

There are multiple suspects; they are considered armed and dangerous.

If in the Thunder Rapids and surrounding area: seek immediate shelter or shelter in place and close and lock doors and windows. Do not leave a secure location. Be cautious of someone asking for a ride. Do not pick up hitch hikers. Do not disclose police locations. Be cautious if not in the immediate described areas.

Police have no additional updates to share at this time.

Update, Oct. 24, 10:21 a.m.: The suspects were last seen with a gun at approximately 10 a.m. on Highway 123 heading north towards Cumberland House. They are still in the 2020 white Dodge Ram 1500 Crew Cab with green toolbox and Saskatchewan license plate RNF 50.

The suspects are described as three or four males. They may be wearing black bandanas or black balaclavas. The suspects are believed to be armed with a gun and considered dangerous. 

Police say they have no additional updates to share at this time. 

Original post: Oct. 24, 9: 58 a.m.: The Saskatchewan RCMP have issued an Emergency Alert that they are responding to multiple reports of vehicle robberies in Prince Albert and the surrounding area. 

One person has been injured.

From three to four armed suspects were last seen around 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 24 driving a 2020 white Dodge Ram 1500 Crew Cab with a green toolbox Sask plate RNF50 near the junction of Highways 55 and 123. The male suspects were wearing black bandanas or balaclavas.

If in the area, people are asked to seek immediate shelter. Do not leave your secure location. People should also lock their doors and windows, and not pick up hitch hikers or approach suspicious persons.

Police warn the public to be cautious if they are not in the immediate area and report any information by calling 9-1-1.
