ONION LAKE - Update Oct. 16: Investigation into the whereabouts of 32-year-old Courtnee Soosay and resulting searches of the Onion Lake Cree Nation area over the past several days led to the discovery of a deceased individual on Friday, Oct. 15.
The deceased is confirmed to be Courtnee, who was last seen at a residence on the Onion Lake Cree Nation between Oct. 1 and 6.
"Courtnee’s family has been notified of her death and supports have been offered to assist them during this difficult time. Our thoughts and condolences go out to them and all of Courtnee’s friends, loved ones and community," states an RCMP release.
The Saskatchewan RCMP and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.
An autopsy is scheduled to take place Monday in Saskatoon.
Investigators would like to thank Onion Lake Cree Nation Security as well as all volunteers and community members who assisted in the search for Courtnee.
Background Oct. 9: Onion Lake RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in locating 32-year-old Courtnee Soosay.
Courtnee was last seen sometime between Oct. 1 and Oct. 6, at a residence on Onion Lake Cree Nation. It was reported she left on foot from the residence during that time period and has not been in contact with her family since. Courtnee may be making her way to Samson Cree Nation of Maskwacis, in Alberta, but this has not been confirmed. She may also still be in the Onion Lake Cree Nation area.
Courtnee is described as being 5’ 4” tall, 140 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. She also has a tattoo of a rose. She was last seen wearing a long, black coat. RCMP are working to obtain a photograph of her.
