When police attempted to block the truck in, it rammed two police vehicles, causing significant damage.
KINDERSLEY - A Saskatoon man is facing several charges including assault a police officer with a weapon after two police vehicles were rammed in Kindersley.
On Aug. 4, at approximately 5:40 p.m., RCMP received a report of a fuel theft from a Kindersley business. After investigating, police determined a truck filled up with diesel and left without paying. The truck was showing a licence plate reported as stolen in Calgary on July 29.
At about 6:50 p.m., Kindersley RCMP received a report that the suspect vehicle was at a different business in Kindersley.
Officers immediately responded and found the truck. When they attempted to block it in, the truck rammed two police vehicles, causing significant damage.
The officers inside the vehicles were not injured.
Then, the truck fled. Police patrolled the area but did not locate it.
As a result of continued investigation, a 26-year-old man from Saskatoon was charged with assault police officer with a weapon; operate a motor vehicle in a manner dangerous to the public; fail to stop for peace officer; fail to stop at an accident; fail to comply with release order condition; and possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000.
A warrant was issued for his arrest.
On Aug. 5, he was arrested by Hanna RCMP in an unrelated incident. The suspect remains in custody. Kindersley RCMP are working to extend the warrant into Alberta. As a result, his court date on the charges from Kindersley RCMP is pending.
