Update: Police apprehend wanted man in Pelican Narrows

The suspect pointed a firearm at officers multiple times when he first escaped arrest.

PELICAN NARROWS - Update: A man who is wanted for pointing a firearm at police has been arrested in Pelican Narrows.

As a result of continued investigation, Saskatchewan RCMP’s Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team (WEST) and Pelican Narrows Detachment determined Solomon Custer was in a home in Pelican Narrows on Sept. 24.

Original post: A man who is wanted by police managed to escape arrest after fleeing into a wooded area in Pelican Narrows.

On Sept. 14, Saskatchewan RCMP Crime Reduction Teams (CRT) from Meadow Lake and La Ronge were attempting to arrest a man at a home in Pelican Narrows. During the execution of the arrest warrant, the man exited the residence and stood on a covered deck, where officers saw him holding a firearm. The man then pointed the firearm at officers multiple times.

The man jumped through an opening in the deck and ran into a nearby forested area. Officers searched the area with their Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS), but were unable to locate him.

Saskatchewan RCMP Warrant Enforcement Suppression Team (WEST) is assisting in this investigation.

As a result, 26-year-old Solomon Custer from Pelican Narrows is charged with: pointing a firearm; possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; resist arrest; and assault on a police officer with a weapon.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

The RCMP asks the public to report all sightings and information about Solomon Custer’s whereabouts.

Custer is described as approximately 5'9" tall and 155 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair. He may be in the Pelican Narrows area.
