The Yorkton Xerox Terriers used a pair of strong third periods to pick up two come-from-behind wins this past weekend, first scoring five goals in the third period to upend the Weyburn Crescent Point Wings 8-3 on Friday before a four goal outburst in Saturday鈥檚 third period against Swift Current resulted in a 7-6 win.

The results improve Yorkton鈥檚 record to 7-1-0 through eight games this season. The two wins also increase their current winning streak to six games and keeps them ahead of Estevan for first place in the SBAAHL 麻豆传媒AV Division.

However Xerox Terrier head coach Dan Cross wasn鈥檛 all that happy with the way the team pieced together their two weekend wins. 鈥淏oth games we came out to slow starts and we managed to get stronger as the game went on and we were able to pull out some wins in the third period, but we need to be able to put together a sold 60 minute effort and not rely on our offence so much in the third period,鈥 suggested Cross, adding that it is nice that they know they can come back late in a game. 鈥淚t鈥檚 nice to know that we can come back like that. To have that in the back of your mind that if you fall behind you can make the comeback is good, but the reason that we fell behind was because of sloppy play. We just weren鈥檛 prepared for those games so that鈥檚 more of our concern.

鈥淭here are some positives knowing that we can come from behind in the third period and win a game, but also what we want to do is work and come out with a better start in games so we鈥檙e not in those situations because you can only do that so many times before you get burnt.鈥

Friday鈥檚 game saw the Xerox Terriers storm out to a two goal lead thanks to a pair of Jackson Berezowski markers in the first period, only to have Weyburn score the next three goals of the frame to take a 3-2 lead into the locker room after 20 minutes.

A third goal by Berezowski late in the second period made it a 3-3 game after two periods before a five goal outburst, three from Zach McIntyre and one each off the sticks of Josh Herman and Kishaun Gervais, made it an 8-3 final for Yorkton.

Saturday saw the Xerox Terriers trail 4-2 and 6-3 before scoring four unanswered goals in the third period for a 7-6 win. Statistics from that game were unavailable at press time.

The next action for the Yorkton Xerox Terriers (7-1-0) will be this Thursday through Sunday when they travel to Regina for the 2015 Graham Tuer Bantam 鈥楢A鈥 Challenge tournament.
