The Yorkton Terriers took it on the chin as they say as they hosted Kindersley in Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League action Saturday.
Things were close through the opening 20-minutes as the teams exchanged goals, Josh Bly for the Klippers at 14:19 and Matthew Perkins with his first as a Junior for the Terriers.
But in the second Kindersley blitzed the Terriers for four goals; Cody Young and Cole Young with the first two, then Josh Stang and Branden Scheidl.
Jordan Ross would respond with a powerplay marker for the Terriers.
Down 5-2 heading into the third things did not improve for Yorkton as the Klippers again scored four.
Cody Young was back for his second of the game 1:32 into the final frame.
Josh Hayward scored at 3:02 and 41-seconds later Dexter Bricker got one. Scheidl added his second of the night to make it 9-2.
McKenzie Welke would add a late powerplay marker for the Terriers to round out the scoring in a 9-3 loss.
Matt Kustra started the game in the Terrier nets, but was pulled after allowing four goals on 18-shots. Jakob Severson took over and gave up the next five goals on 16-shots.
Branden Bilodeau was in the Klipper net facing 40-shots in securing the win.
The loss left the Terriers with a record of 14-25-1-3 for 32 points, third best in the Viterra Division. Weyburn tops the Division with 61-points. Estevan sits second with 49.
In the basement Melville sits with 30.
Big win
The Terriers might have been fighting for a playoff spot, and 27-points back of Weyburn when the two teams met in Yorkton last Tuesday, but the score did not reflect that.
Following a scoreless first period, the Viterra-leading Wings did look poised to take over the game in the second.
Drake Glover broke the scoreless tie at 2:23, and Mason Anderson made it 2-0 at 3:52.
But the Terriers fought back.
Dexter Robinson and Jordan Evans would score in the second to knot the contest 2-2.
Tyler Baier would score a powerplay marker 10:32 in the third to give the home team its first lead of the game. The Baier goal would prove the eventual game-winner as the last goal of the contest was an empty-netter by Adam Santoro to round out a 4-2 win.
Matt Kustra earned the win in the Terrier net facing 34 shots, while Jack Burgart took the loss for the Wings facing 30.

Friday Yorkton heads to Wilcox to face the Notre Dame Hounds, and Saturday Humboldt rolls into the Farrell Agencies Arena in the city for a game with big playoff implications for both teams.
On Tuesday, Feb. 2, Estevan will be in Yorkton to play the Terriers.
