...coming out with a tie I think showed the kids that they have the compete level they need to play peewee ‘AA’.

Peewee ‘AA’ head coach
The Yorkton Sherring Gold Terriers picked up their second point of the 2015/16 SSMHL Peewee ‘AA’ hockey season on Friday, using a three goal second period to pick up a 3-3 tie with the Melville Millionaires on the road.
The Mils opened the scoring in the first period when Kayden Tocher beat Yorkton netminder Kael DePape for an unassisted marker with just under seven minutes remaining in the first period for a 1-0 Mils lead.
That lead lasted until the 4:39 mark of the middle frame when Carter Dereniwsky scored his second goal of the season, firing the puck past Brady Lutz to bring Yorkton even at 1-1.
A pair of powerplay goals 1:34 apart off the sticks of Kaedin Dycer and Brady Bjornerud made it 3-1 for the Sherring Gold Terriers after 40 minutes, however they could not hold on to their two goal lead in the third period as Melville’s Cooper Chisholm scored his third and fourth goals of the season, both via the man advantage, to tie the game at three.
That would prove to be all the scoring in the game, as the Sherring Gold Terriers and Melville Millionaires both skated to a 3-3 tie.
DePape and Lutz both earned the tie for their team, while Tryggvi Thorsteinson was the top Yorkton point scorer, registering two assists in the game.
Following the game Sherring Gold Terrier head coach Monte Taphorn said that it was unfortunate that his team couldn’t hold on to the lead in the third period, but that he was still happy with the tie. “It would have been nice coming out of that game with a win after being up two goals after two,” offered Taphorn, continuing, “but coming out with a tie I think showed the kids that they have the compete level they need to play peewee ‘AA’.”
The next action for the Yorkton Sherring Gold Terriers (0-1-2) will be Saturday, October 31, when they visit the Swift Current 鶹ýAVwest Terminal Broncos (3-1-0) for a 7:30p.m. start.
