WINNIPEG — A man has died after being shot by Winnipeg police during an attempted traffic stop.
Police say they tried to stop a vehicle early Tuesday morning in the south part of the city when people inside it tried to flee the scene.
They say an officer was pinned by the suspect vehicle and one of the officers shot the man driving it.
Police say the driver was taken to hospital in critical condition and later died, while a female passenger remains in custody.
The shooting is being probed by the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba, which looks into serious incidents involving police officers across the province.
There is no word yet on charges.
