NotebookLM has introduced a key update that allows users to guide AI-generated audio conversations that are more customized.

Greetings from Austin, TX. I'm doing my keynote about AI at the this morning. The town is buzzing! Truth (stranger than fiction): when I got back to my hotel last night, I was introduced to a bunch of software engineers from the RedBull team. What an incredible group! The tech applied to the design and operations of F1 cars is extraordinary.

In the news: Google’s AI note-taking and research assistant, , has introduced a key update that allows users to guide AI-generated audio conversations that are more customized than the genAI podcasts that made NotebookLM famous a few weeks ago.

Previously, the tool would create holistic audio summaries based on user content, but the new customization option enables more focused, topic-specific summaries. This feature responds to user feedback requesting a way to direct AI-generated conversations more effectively.

Raiza Martin, NotebookLM’s product leader, explained that the team listened to feedback and designed the update to give users more control over their summaries. Users can now also enjoy background listening, allowing them to continue working within NotebookLM while their audio summary plays.

In addition to these enhanced audio capabilities, Google launched the NotebookLM Business pilot program, opening the door for organizations to explore the tool with early access to features, training, and support. General availability and pricing for the business version have not yet been announced.
