NIPAWIN - Robert Steptoe had to use the tips of his toes to confirm his Western Max ticket had won $100,000 on the May 12 Extra draw.

“The screen was so high up, I had to stand on my tippy toes to count the zeroes,” he laughed. “I didn’t know if I was seeing straight, so I asked the cashier to check it for me.”

The winner said even though he knows his win is confirmed, he’s still waiting for the shock to sink in.

“Honestly, when the cashier told me that I won $100,000, I didn’t really react,” he said. “I didn’t feel nervous or anything; I don’t think it’s all hit me yet.”

Steptoe said he hasn’t made any decisions for his windfall yet, but he does have one idea.

“I might get some work done on my truck,” he said while claiming his prize.

Steptoe purchased his winning ticket from Lake Country Co-op Nipawin Home Centre, located at 200 Timber Dr. in Nipawin. He won his prize by matching the last six digits of the Extra number drawn on May 12 – 5909097.
