Lt.-Gov. to present Awards of Excellence to northern students

Presentations planned for Oct. 2 to 4.

Lt.-Gov. Russ Mirasty will visit six schools in northern Saskatchewan next week.

REGINA — The Northern Student Achievement Awards were established in 1989 by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education. The Lieutenant Governor’s Award of Excellence recognizes one student at each grade level from Grades 7 to 12. The award criteria include academic standing, school attendance and involvement in cultural activities.

The presentation events are:

Monday, Oct. 2 at 11:00 a.m. – Creighton Community School, Creighton Lieutenant Governor’s Award recipient: Talissa Alexander, Grade 12

Monday, Oct. 2 at 1:30 p.m. – Hector Thiboutot Community School, Sandy Bay Lieutenant Governor’s Award recipient: Myles Mccallum, Grade 8

Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 10:30 a.m. – Dene High School, La Loche Lieutenant Governor’s Award recipient: Caleb Herman, Grade 7

Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 1:30 p.m. – Twin Lakes Community School, Buffalo Narrows Lieutenant Governor’s Award recipients: Connor Clarke, Grade 11

Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 10:00 a.m. – Rossignol High School, Ile a la Crosse Lieutenant Governor’s Award recipients: William McGonigle, Grade 10

Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 1:30 p.m. – Churchill Community High School, La Ronge Lieutenant Governor’s Award recipients: Samantha Unahan, Grade 9
