Saskatchewan Roughrider Quarterback Trevor Harris is being placed on the six-game injured list with what Head Coach Corey Mace is calling a “moderate” MCL sprain.
Harris was injured just before halftime in the Riders 36-20 win over Hamilton on June 23. A hit by Tiger-Cats defensive end sent Harris to the sideline and eventually to the Rider locker room. However, the 38 year-old pivot returned to the sideline early in the third quarter to campaign his head coach to let him back in the game. Corey Mace did not oblige, instead preferring to err on the side of caution, holding his QB1 on the sideline.
Mace added when updating Rider Nation on the status of Harris, that if it were up to Trevor he would be out there, but because it is early in the season, the team was going to take a cautious approach.
Harris started the season on fire completing more than 72% of his passes for 872 yards with 7 touchdown tosses. Next man up for the Riders is Shea Patterson who finished off the week three win, completing 4-of-10 passes for 41 yards.
Should Harris remain on the six-game injured list for its full duration he wouldn’t be eligible to return until August 16 when the Riders host Montreal.
The Green and White are back in action on Thursday when they host Toronto at Mosaic Stadium.

In a subsequent move to adding Harris to the 6-game Injured List, the team announced the signing of Eric Barriere who was released by Winnipeg after training camp. Barrier was on the field at practice on Sunday wearing number 9.
Prior to his time with the Bombers, the California native also tried out for the Denver Broncos in 2022 and spent time with the USFL’s Michigan Panthers (2022) and the New Jersey Generals (2023).
Barriere had an outstanding college career, marked with record-setting and award-winning performances at Eastern Washington. He was twice named the Big Sky Conference’s Offensive Player of the Year (2020, 2021) and won the Walter Payton Award as the top player in FCS football in 2021 after passing for 5,070 yards and 46 touchdowns. He was the runner-up for the award in 2020. In addition, he was named to the All-Big Sky Conference First Team twice (2020, 2021) and the All-Big Sky Conference Third Team twice (2018, 2019).
