Roy P. Carpenter of Phippen was elected president and Mike Kirchgesner of Reward vice-president of the West Central District of SARM.
Livestock donated by the Skinner families was raffled off with proceeds going to the Wilkie community centre building fund. Mrs. Mary Brandle won a horse and saddle, Mrs. Alex Mettlewsky a fat market hog and Lois Mullett a six-year-old rooster.
Nick Seneshen, proprietor of Unity Photo Studio, was elected president of the Unity Chamber of Commerce, replacing Dr. Fred Weeks who had completed his two-year term.
Members at the Unity Chamber annual general meeting voted in favour of making a $500 contribution to the Unity Volunteer Ambulance Corps to be used to help purchase two-way radio equipment for the hospital and the ambulance unit.

The Prairie Springs Mineral Spa committee imposed a deadline on the Atlanta, Ga., investor group in hopes of getting the project moving forward again.
Winning Christmas prizes were Kristi Baker, Doreen Flanagan and Annice Fawell – $1,000 in the Unity Chamber’s Grand in Your Hand promotion – along with Unity’s Lion Club raffle winners: Rob Henderson (garden shed), Todd Chorney and Bryan Hammer (pork halves) and Allan Belliveau (elk meat).
Luseland/Dodsland Stars midget goalie Bett Heintz was busy in net when the Wilkie Outlaws outshot the Stars 51-24 but only won the game by one goal, 8-7.
