Faith Veikle won the Most Outstanding Performer and Senior Vocal awards at the Unity Music Festival. Allyson Hepting received the Senior Piano award.
Theresa, Julia and Anne Sanders of Wilkie were chosen as finalists in Spotlight on Talent, CKBI-TV, Prince Albert.
In “News notes from Macklin,” a new sport for the town was reported. Sometimes on one ski, sometimes on two, sometimes on water skis, participants were skiing from the top of the arena, over the curling rink roof and down into an alley full of soft snow.
Another eight-ender at the Unity curling rink was reported – this one achieved by the Jerry Watt rink, which included Larry Safronetz, Emile Nickel and Terry Watt.
Assets in excess of $3.5 million were reported at the Coady Credit Union annual meeting.

Ed Elder was named Wilkie’s Citizen of the Year. Courtney Nielsen, a Grade 9 student at St. George School, was chosen as the Junior Citizen of the Year.
A bright meteor flash early in the week had locals talking, and Martin Beech of the University of Regina came to the area searching for bits of the meteorite.
After an eight-year hiatus, Unity Little Theatre returned with four sold-out performances of The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Murder Mystery, directed by Roxane Mamer.
