Unity New Horizons Senior Citizens organization had successfully moved a vacant rural building into town, and were seeking volunteers to help with the carpentry work for the finishing touches.
Thirty-five district 30 4-H members and their chaperones reported on an enjoyable trip to Minnesota. Activities included attending a ball game between the Minnesota Twins and Texas Rangers, and a tour of the Better Crocker Kitchens.
Senlac United Church was hosting a Vacation Bible School.
Antelope season in Saskatchewan was cancelled due to low population and poor reproduction rates.
UFA in Provost was advertising lumber, with first grade spruce plywood at $4.78 for 5/16 inch 4x8 “sheating” and $5.35 for 3/8 inch.

The Wilkie Midgets baseball team captured the AA provincial title. Coached by Bill Sittler, Gerry Cey and Lorne Nielsen, team members included Russell Nielsen, Ricky Cey, Craig Wagar, Rylan Rogers, Ryan Wickett, Derek and Jared Keller, Mike Sittler, Bobby Bachman, Karsten McRae, A.J. Keller and Trent Cey.
The Lutheran churches in Unity and Wilkie welcomed their new pastor, Rev. Mark Just.
St. James CWL in Wilkie held a 60th anniversary celebration.
Kyla Snell, Kathy Johnson and Rhonda Gartner won the Unity Golf Club’s Ladies’ Open.
There were an unusual number of rat sightings in Unity. Mice also seemed to be a problem in several neighbourhoods.
Murray Kon joined Moody’s Equipment Ltd., to take over as branch manager for the Unity location.
