Breakdown: Regina Douglas Park candidates

Nicole Sarauer is seeking to win her third straight term as MLA of Regina Douglas Park.

REGINA - Nicole Sarauer and the New Democrats are looking to win Regina Douglas Park for the third straight election. Now, the NDP will compete against the Saskatchewan Party and the Saskatchewan Green Party for the Regina Douglas Park constituency.

Sarauer grew up in Regina and studied law at the University of Regina and the University of Saskatchewan.

For the NDP, Sarauer has served as the Deputy Leader of the Opposition (NDP) and the Opposition critic for Justice, Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority, SaskGaming, Corrections and Policing, and the Provincial Capital Commission in the legislature.

In the 2020 election for Regina Douglas Park, Sarauer and the NDP won over 60 per cent of the votes, while the Sask Party received 30 per cent of the vote.

The Sask Party is turning to candidate Ken Grey to win Regina Douglas Park for the party.

Grey grew up near Colonsay and is the former leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Saskatchewan, serving as the leader between 2018 and 2021.

He also has 17 years of experience working in the Saskatoon Health Region.

Despite his time as the leader of the PCs, Grey has never served time in the legislature.

The final party running in Regina Douglas Park is the Saskatchewan Green Party. Their candidate, Victor Lau, is the former leader of the Sask Green Party.

Lau ran for the Sask Green Party in the 2020 Regina Douglas Park constituency, receiving over 3 per cent of the votes.

Lau is a small business owner and works multiple jobs. He also has 31 years of experience as a trade unionist and shop steward with UFCW Local 1400.

He obtained a social science degree at the University of Regina.

These are the three parties battling for Regina Douglas Park in the election happening on Oct. 28.
