Youth attacks another youth with hatchet

The youth has been charged with aggravated assault, break and enter to commit an indictable offence, and failing to comply with court-imposed conditions.

Police patrolling in the 400 block of 26th Street West were flagged down and notified of a disturbance happening a short distance away. As officers approached the residence where the disturbance was occurring, an injured male exited.

SASKATOON – A male youth has been arrested following a break and enter that resulted in an aggravated assault with an axe.

On May 31, at around 12:45 p.m., police patrolling in the 400 block of 26th Street West were flagged down and notified of a disturbance happening a short distance away. As officers approached the residence where the disturbance was occurring, an injured male exited.

The police investigation found that a 16-year-old male known to the occupants of the residence had unlawfully entered and assaulted a 17-year-old male inside with a hatchet. He then fled the scene but was located and arrested a short time later in the 800 block of Idylwyld Drive North. The victim was taken to hospital by paramedics with non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result, the 16-year-old male from Saskatoon has been charged with aggravated assault, break and enter to commit an indictable offence, and failing to comply with court-imposed conditions.
