NORTH BATTLEFORD – Twenty-four-year-old Crystal Semaganis from Little Pine First Nation had another appearance in court Monday. She was remanded in custody until her next appearance on Feb. 15.

Her co-accused, 30-year-old Durrel Bearsears, also from Little Pine, was back in North Battleford Provincial Court on Jan. 10. He was remanded in custody until his next appearance on Jan. 18.

Semaganis and Bearsears are charged with robbery, pointing a firearm, and possession of methamphetamine. Bearsears is additionally charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Police say that in August 2023, a victim was flagged down on Highway 16 near Bresaylor by Semaganis who was beside a parked vehicle with its hazard lights on. Once the man stopped his vehicle, Bearsears jumped out of the ditch and pointed a firearm at him. The man was able to escape unharmed and call police.

Maidstone RCMP and RCMP Police Dog Services searched the area and arrested the pair after a brief search.
