SASKATOON – Update: The significant police presence in the 800 block of 20th Street West on Saturday was the result of a 31-year-old man being shot, say Saskatoon police.
The man was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Two people were arrested nearby but later released. Saskatoon police members of the Serious Assault Unit are investigating.

Original story: Saskatoon police responded to a homicide and weapons investigation blocks apart on the city’s west end Saturday.
The Major Crimes Unit and Forensic Identification sections are investigating the city's second homicide of the year after a 48-year-old man was shot and killed at a home in the 200 block of Avenue K North. Police had responded at about 6:46 a.m., Feb. 10.
A 21-year-old Saskatoon man was arrested and charged. Police didn’t specify the charge. They say the victim and the accused were known to each other.
While Saskatoon police were still at the scene on Avenue K North, they had a significant police presence in the area of the 800 block of 20th Street West for a weapons investigation. Bystanders told SASKTODAY.ca that someone was shot. This hasn't been confirmed with police.
It isn’t clear if the two incidents are connected.
Saskatoon police were also busy last Saturday.
Officers shot a 34-year-old man while executing a search warrant at a home in the 600 block of Lisgar Avenue for an aggravated assault investigation involving firearms. Once they entered the home, they found a deceased person.
Police charged Chantal Lee McLaren, 32, and Edin Dion Vrazalica, with first-degree murder. Police say the victim is a 25-year-old man from Alberta and they aren’t releasing his name at his family’s request.
The victim and the accused were known to each other.
