ONION LAKE – Following up on a tip that wanted man Tristan Whitstone was spotted, Onion Lake RCMP pursued two men, apprehending one but not Whitstone.
At about 2 p.m. on Oct. 16, police were informed that Whitstone – who was wanted for a serious assault on Onion Lake Cree Nation in August – was seen in a red car. Police located the car at a home on OLCN and when officers approached the residence, two men got into the red car and fled the scene. Police say one matched the description of Whitstone.
Police followed the car, which stopped and both people jumped out and fled on foot. Officers pursued the fleeing men on foot and arrested the passenger, 23-year-old MacKenzie Cannepotatoe from OLCN. He was wanted on warrants out of OLCN and North Battleford. Cannepotatoe is charged with possession of methamphetamine, failing to comply with release conditions, resisting a peace officer, and unauthorized possession of a firearm. He appears in Lloydminster court next on Nov. 1.
Whitstone wasn’t apprehended during the foot pursuit and is still wanted. From the Oct. 16 incident, he is charged with flight from police, unauthorized possession of a firearm, resisting arrest, uttering threats, kidnapping with a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a firearm in a vehicle, intimidation of a justice system participant, and possession of a firearm when unauthorized.
From the August incident, Whitstone is charged with aggravated sexual assault, possession of a firearm when unauthorized, forcible confinement, and uttering threats.
Whitstone may be on OLCN and Onion Lake RCMP are working on locating him.
Whitstone is about 6-foot-1 and 240 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair.
Police say Whitstone may be with 21-year-old Shanayah Hill. She is charged with uttering threats, kidnapping with a firearm, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, and intimidation of a justice system participant.
Hill is about 5-foot-6 and 140 pounds. She has dark hair.
If you see Tristan Whitstone or Shanayah Hill, do not approach – they may be armed and are considered dangerous. Report information on their whereabouts to Onion Lake RCMP at 306-344-5550.
