WYNYARD – A preliminary hearing has been set in Wynyard Provincial Court for a Lloydminster man accused of killing 51-year-old Sharon Littlewolfe.

Brian McLeod was back in Wynyard court July 21 and the hearing has been scheduled for November to determine if there is enough evidence for him to stand trial on a charge of second-degree murder.

McLeod was arrested in December 2022 after a series of assaults at three different homes.

Wadena RCMP found an injured woman and baby at a home in Margo. As police investigated, they found Littlewolfe deceased at an adjacent home.

Police say McLeod then stole a vehicle from a nearby home and, about two hours later, assaulted a man at a rural residence. Tisdale RCMP say that McLeod had gone to the rural home and asked for help with his vehicle that was stuck. The man received serious but non-life-threatening injuries and he was able to restrain McLeod until police arrived and arrested him.

The woman and baby were taken to hospital. The woman had serious injuries, whereas the infant had non-life-threatening injuries.

An obituary for Sharon Littlewolfe said that she was born in Paradise Hill, was athletic and triumphed in track and field.

“She could never bring herself to be negative and radiated happiness wherever she went,” read her obituary. “She was always on the go and was a hard worker. Sharon was very creative and made beautiful regalia and beadwork.  She had a big heart and never turned anyone away that came to her for help, her home was always open. She lived a traditional life and loved dancing; where she found her peace.”

LIttlewolfe was the mother of three children.

McLeod was known to the woman and baby, and was in a relationship with Littlewolfe. He is charged with second-degree murder, attempted murder, two counts, aggravated assault, and possession of property obtained by crime.

He has been denied bail.
