Saskatoon youth charged with assault after man seriously injured

Police had responded Monday to a report of an injured person in the area of 22nd Street East and Pacific Avenue.

SASKATOON – Saskatoon police have arrested a youth and are investigating after a man was found seriously injured on Monday.

At about 10 p.m. on Oct. 30 they had responded to a report of an injured person in the area of 22nd Street East and Pacific Avenue. When they arrived, they found the 44-year-old man with a serious injury to his face. He was taken to hospital by paramedics.

In a separate incident about 15 minutes later, police responded to the 300 block of Confederation Drive for a report of a male threatening people with a large knife.

When officers arrived, they located the suspect and arrested him after a brief foot pursuit. Articles of his clothing were found to have blood on them. As a result, the 16-year-old male from Saskatoon has been charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, carrying a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence, and failing to comply with a youth probation order.
