SASKATOON – Twenty years after the murder of Donna Marie Kasyon, Saskatoon police are renewing their request for help from the public.
In the early morning hours of June 15, 2002, police responded to the 3100 block of Laurier Drive for a report by Saskatoon Transit of an injured woman. When they arrived, they found 20-year-old Donna Marie Kasyon suffering from life-threatening wounds consistent with a stabbing.
Kasyon was rushed to Royal University Hospital, where she later died as a result of being stabbed in the chest. An autopsy later confirmed her to be the victim of homicide.
In 2002, the Saskatoon Police Service Major Crime Section said Donna Marie Kasyon was seen in the 1900 block of 22nd Street West between 10 and 10:30 p.m., Friday, June 14, 2022. Police attempted to determine her whereabouts between then and when she was found in the 3100 block of Laurier Drive at 12:45 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2022.
Donna Marie Kasyon was indigenous, five-foot-five tall, 122 pounds, with brown eyes and shoulder length brown hair done up at the back. She was wearing a green wrap-around mini skirt with a white button-front sleeveless blouse.
The investigation into this historical homicide remains open. No suspects have been arrested but investigators believe members of the public may have information helpful in solving the case.
